Miss Adeola Adefemi, an English Teacher at Oke-Odo Senior High School, Alimosho in Lagos State, was named the Best Teacher in Nigeria by the Federal Ministry of Education during a recent national event held in Abuja to celebrate World Teachers’ Day.
Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of Nigeria, presented the award to Adefemi, saying the occasion was aimed to recognise exceptional teachers for their incalculable contributions to the growth and development of society.

The Federal Government recognised Adefemi’s exceptional commitment to advancing high-quality education by presenting him with a brand-new car. She is also known for being a very innovative teacher who instructs youngsters both inside and outside of the classroom, focusing particularly on the disadvantaged members of her community.
Mrs. Bolanle Alamu, who works at the Government Senior College in Agege, was also recognised as the Y2022 Second Runner-up for Best School Administrator in the Public School Category. During the Lagos State Teachers’ Merit Award ceremony that took place in June of 2022, Mrs. Alamu had previously been awarded the 2021 Senior Secondary School Administrator Award.
Michael Adeniyi, a teacher at the Caleb British International School in Lagos, emerged as the first runner-up in the Best Teacher, Private Senior Secondary School Category for the Year 2022 competition.
