Bauchi state revokes licenses of private colleges of education

The Bauchi State Ministry of Education has announced the state government's plan to revoke the licenses of all private institutions that award National Certificates of Education (NCE) across the state with immediate effect.

The revocation notice was contained in a circular signed by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Sule Adamu Madara, dated July 22, 2021, and addressed to the Head of Cabinet of the Government House; Head of Civil Service; the House Secretary of the Bauchi State Assembly; Senior Special Education Assistant / SUBEB; all owners of NCE awarding institutions and the general public.

According to Madara, the decision is aimed at reducing the spread of sub-standard education centers as well as restoring the lost glory of education in the state.

He added that any of the affected institutions that wish to continue operations must submit a request to the ministry, warning that those who do not comply will be sanctioned in accordance with the pertinent legal provisions.
