Babcock Confers Honorary Degrees on Fashola, Kwankwaso, Akpabio

Babcock University conferred Honorary Degrees on Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso ( Doctor of Science in Global Economic Development, Honoris causa), Mr. Babatunde Fashola (Doctor of Humane Letter, Honoris causa) and Mr. Goodswill Akpabio (Doctor of Science in Global Economic Development, Honoris causa) for their outstanding achievements in governance of their states.

The immediate past governors of Kano, Lagos and Akwa Ibom states, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and Mr. Goodswill Akpabio respectively, were yesterday conferred with honorary degrees by the Babcock University, Ilisan -Remo, Ogun State for their outstanding achievements in governance of their states.

In his address at the fourth postgraduate convocation ceremony held in the university’s central cafeteria, the vice-chancellor Babcock University, Professor James Kayode Makinde said the conferment of degrees on the past governors by the university was to identify with their commitment to making the future of Nigeria bright.

He said, “In keeping with our tradition of recognizing excellence as part of our initiative of encouraging development and patriotism, the university is conferring honorary degrees on the following achievers: Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso and Mr. Godswill Obot Akpabio.”

Kwankwaso was conferred with Doctor of Science in Global Economic Development, Honoris causa, Fashola bagged Doctor of Humane Letter, Honoris causa and Akpabio who was absent at the ceremony got Doctor of Science in Global Economic Development, Honoris causa.

Makinde lamented the challenge of near collapse of the country’s educational sector over the years.

He added that the, “Inadequate medical care leading to dwindling quality of life and living ; weak economic power owing to rising inflationary trend and the brain drain syndrome have embolden us as an institution to reverse the trend and offer a fresh lease of hope to millions. (Leadership).
