ASUU to Sue FG Over CONUA, NAMDA Registration

This was said by ASUU’s lawyer, Femi Falana, on Channels Television on Thursday.

Chris Ngige, the minister of labour and employment, delivered certificates of registration to CONUA and NAMDA on Tuesday.
Ngige, who spoke while presenting the two unions with registration certificates, said that the two bodies will coexist with ASUU.

According to SchoolGist, ASUU has been on strike since February 14, 2022, in protest over unpaid allowances and an improved welfare package from the Federal Government.

Falana, the principal counsel for ASUU, told Channels Television that the union would fight the Federal Government over the registration of the two unions.

“ASUU will go to court.” “It will be the NIC,” Falana stated.
According to the PUNCH, a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega, accused Ngige of complicated matters in an interview with Arise Television.

“He brought the subject to the industrial court, and the verdict was appealed by ASUU, and now he has registered two unions while attempting to outlaw ASUU.” If this government allows it, I believe it is a recipe for catastrophe, and it may cause more difficulties than it solves in terms of strike action,” Jega added.
