OAU Branch: ASUU Election Holds March 27

This is to inform all the home branch members that the tenure of the current executive committee will expire by the end of march, 2013. Therefore, elections of new officers shall be held as follows:

DATE: WEDNESDAY, 27TH MARCH, 2013
VENUE: FLOOR O LOBBY, UNIVERSITY HALL, OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY, ILE-IFE
TIME: 10.00 A.M. TO 2.00 P.M.

ELECTIVE POSTS
The Elective Posts are as follows:
CHAIRMAN, VICE-CHAIRMAN, GENERAL SECRETARY, ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY, TREASURER, FINANCIAL SECRETARY, SOCIAL/WELFARE OFFICER, LEGAL ADVISER, PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER AND AUDITOR.

As a non-executive position, the Auditor shall be a professional Accountant or Auditor.

COLLECTION OF FORMS

Interested members are requested to collect their nomination forms from the following members from Tuesday, 12th March, 2013 to 12.00 noon on Wednesday, 21st March, 2013:

Mr. K.T. Fasola, Room 104, General Ledger’s Office, Floor 1, Bursary (08034017538) and

PROCEDURE

The following guidelines shall be adhered to:
a. Only members of good standing (that is financial members up to January, 2013) are qualified to vote and be voted for.

b. However, only members of at least good financial standings from January, 2011 could contest for election into the positions of Chairman and Vice-Chairman.

c. Form(s) shall be obtained on the payment of the sum of N2,000 (non-refundable) for the Nomination Form and the submission of one passport size photograph.
d. The form shall be duly filled with the consent of a Proposer and a Seconder who shall also be members of good standing.

GUIDING RULES

a. Only qualified members of Congress as stated above, electoral members and other properly identified officers will be allowed to remain in the Hall during the elections.

b. The Electoral Committee shall have the right to disqualify any candidate who is found involved in any type of electoral misconduct(s). These misconducts shall include hiring and presenting of students/non members or non-branch members as voters, any type of thuggery, Fighting/threats, giving of false information, impersonation, aiding and abetting of aforementioned misconducts and any other acts or omissions that the Electoral Committee might regard as electoral offences in line with the provisions of the Constitution.

c. Counting of votes shall commence immediately after the voting exercise and it shall be OPEN.

Further information on the election shall be announced in due course.

The Association needs members who have passion and determination for the ideals of our Alma Mata to steer the ship of the Association to greater heights. Hence, the Electoral Committee is sincerely soliciting for the co-operation and active participation by every member in order to enable us achieve the desired success.
