ASUU Calls-off Strike, Academic Activities To Resume Immediately

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has officially  called of the indefinite strike it embarked upon last month.

The strike action which has lingered for 1 month an 6 days now was called off Monday evening after a meeting of the union with some Government delegation.

It was learnt that at the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the leadership of the union and the federal government delegation led by the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige.

It was gathered that the leadership of ASUU decided to suspend the strike action till the end of October to give Government room to fulfill its agreement with the union.

Consequently, the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called on Lecturers to resume academic activities with effect from Tuesday September 19th, 2017.

Recall that ASUU embarked on an indefinite strike on August 13, following government’s failure to implement the agreement reached with the union in November 2016.
