ASUU and the FG yet to Reach Agreement

The North-West Coordinator of ASUU, Dr. Rabiu Nasiru, told news men in Abuja that ASUU and the Federal Government are yet to agree on terms concerning the incorporation of universities into the newly introduced Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

The IPPIS was introduced by the Federal Government through the Accountant General of the Federation with a view to creating a centralized data base system to aid government pay its workers’ salaries and to ensure that wastages and leakages are done with by ensuring staff remuneration is based on correct information.

According to Dr. Rabiu ASUU has directed its members not to enrol in the system, saying it will deter the growth and development of institutions and also alter the sought after University autonomy.

In response to this, the IPPIS’s coordinator, Mrs Nana Fatima Mede, said that the aim of this new system was to ensure prompt payment of salaries and entitlements directly to employees’ accounts; stating that it will in no way tamper with the autonomy of universities.
