ASUU Accuses VCs and IPPIS staff of Appointment and Promotion Sabotage

The Calabar Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that appointments and promotions are being influenced by some University Vice-Chancellors with the assistance of the staff of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

The Chairman of the union, Dr Aniekan Brown reacted to this during a briefing in Uyo. He revealed that these acts were carried out during ongoing industrial strike action of the union and the COVID-19 lockdown as universities were closed.

Dr Brown stated that there are processes to be followed before any appointment or promotion can be made and described the act as fraudulent. He said the union will uncover the rigged process and nullify the processes of the persons involved.

The Chairman further added that there was no proof that the COVID-19 protocols will be adhered to, hence, the reopening of schools being clamoured for should be made with caution.
