The nearly six months old strike embarked upon by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities , which left virtually all government owned universities in the country, paralyzed for the past five months may have been called off, however a visit to some institutions shows that normalcy is yet to return as a result of strike.
On a visit to the university of Lagos, few students who where seen said they where Freshers and had only come to complete their registration while some lecturers where found chatting amidst students absence, at the university of Benin campus it was a similar issue.
Our correspondent at the Nnamdi Azikiwe university campus, Awka also reports that there was low students turnout but it was a different case at the university of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). Here students were found receiving lectures as if there was never a strike, however at the university of Ibadan few people who were seen claimed to be traders as they narrated their losses due to the industrial action.
