The management of Atlantic Hall school, located in Epe area of Lagos State have come under serious criticism from parents who describe the virtual lesson fees imposed on them during the school closure as exploitative, wicked and unfair.
The School had imposed an initial monthly fee of N195,000 per student for online lessons pending when schools reopen after the relaxation of the COVID-19 restrictions. This led to an immediate protest by parents and resulted in a N20,000 reduction to N175,000.
Parents were still not impressed with the new fee, and hit hard at the school board of trustee during an emergency PTA meeting they had via zoom. The parents accused the board as ‘too profit-oriented’ with no regard for the setback triggered by the coronavirus pandemic on the nation and world as a whole.
The angry parents cited other top private schools such as Corona School, Greenspring School among others who charge about N60,000 per month for virtual lessons.
The annual fees per student of the school is N4.5million.
