SUBEB trains 9,260 teachers in Delta state

The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), on Wednesday, 27 January, began the training of 9,260 teachers in a program titled, “The Role of School Support Officers’ in Asaba, the state capital.

The training is expected to last for 5-days and is geared towards boosting the quality of education in various skills areas such as Jolly Phonics, Quality Assurance, Early Child Care, Development Education, and School-based Model and Cluster School Support Mechanism.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the chairman of the board, Sunny Ogwu, commended the state government for the initiative, stating that it was the first time the board was organizing the exercise in the newly introduced School Support Officers’ program aimed at effective implementation of school-based model.

According to SUBEB, the program is expected to develop a respectful and collaborative relationship with the teachers, provide constructive feedback to the teachers, carrying out spot checks of learners’ performance.

Ogwu urged the participants to take the training very seriously.
