AAUA Extends SIWES Duration by 5 Weeks

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, AAUA Extends SIWES duration by five weeks to allow adequate supervision. The exercise, which was to end on November 7, 2016, has been extended to December 12, 2016.

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, has extended the duration for this year’s Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme, SIWES, for its students by five weeks.

The Director of SIWES, Dr. Olanrewaju Olotuah confirmed the development to the Information Unit of the University on Wednesday last week.

The exercise, which was to end on November 7, 2016, has been extended to December 12, 2016 as a result of the recent suspension of academic activities in the University by its academic staff and to ensure adequate supervision of the students.

Dr. Olotuah said, “The need to supervise AAUA students currently observing their internship has prompted the University Management to extend the SIWES completion date. The completion date has been shifted from November 7 to December 12, 2016 which makes a summary of 24 weeks altogether.

“The decision was made to give room for proper supervision of our students observing their internship. As we all know, the previous Academic Calendar has been affected by the recent Industrial action of the Academic members of the Institution, which also affected our students’ SIWES supervision.”

He advised the participating students to be committed to their work as supervising officers could visit them without a prior notice.
