18 Earn 1st Class as AAUA Graduates 4,310

Eighteen graduands of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) will be awarded first class degree certificates at this year’s convocation ceremony of the institution.

Eighteen graduands of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, will receive First Class degree at the 6th Convocation Ceremony of the Institution which will hold on the 18th and 19th December, 2015 in the University Multipurpose Hall.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, disclosed this on Tuesday last week during the Press Conference of the 6th Convocation Ceremony held at the Akure Liaison Office of the University.

Prof. Ajibefun said, “A total of 4,310 graduands of the 2013/2014 Session will receive first and higher degrees and diplomas at the 6th Convocation ceremony on December 18 and 19 this year.

“Of this number, 4,053 will earn First Degrees, 130 will take Master’s degrees, 20 will bag PhD degrees while 107 will obtain Diplomas.

“Of the 4,053 in the First Degree category, 18 graduated with First Class; 787 earned Second Class Upper Division, 2,500 obtained Second Class Lower Division; 702 made Third Class and 46 had Pass.

“These 4, 310 graduands have been schooled in the AAUA tradition of academic excellence that has consistently earned the University Best State University ranking in Nigeria. They have also been handed analytical and academic skills to enable them to impact their world and enhance humanity.”

He also revealed that honorary degrees would be conferred on four distinguished Nigerians whose lifestyle and achievements tally with the University’s tradition of excellence and integrity in recognition of their contributions to the development of the society.

The awardees are the President of the African Development Bank and immediate past Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, who will receive the Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa; the Olugbo and Paramount Ruler of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, who will be honoured with the Doctor of Letters Honoris Causa; and Chief Bisi Ogunjobi, who will receive the Doctor of Business Administration Honoris Causa.

A world-class Professor of History, Professor Bolanle Awe, who was conferred with the Doctor of Letters Honoris Causa at the 2014 convocation ceremony but could not receive it that year for reasons beyond her control, would now have the award conferred on her.
