Last week, we reported the arrest of four internet fraudsters alleged to be students of UNIPORT by the EFCC, on allegations of romance scam and other fraudulent activities. The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has reacted to the story stating that, the four students arrested by the anti-graft agency for internet fraud were not students of the Institution.
The institution distanced itself from the fraudsters after going through the school's records, without finding such names in the record book of the University.
The University issued the disclaimer in a statement released by the institution's Public Relations Officer, Sam Kpenu. According to Kpenu, UNIPORT is not a breeding ground for criminals but a place of learning that produced polished products who are making positive impact all around the world. The university condemned the attempt to paint it in bad light through reckless reports.
