15 Students of UNILORIN Get PTDF Scholarship Awards

15 Students of UNILORIN Get PTDF Scholarship Awards:

Fifteen students of the University of Ilorin have won the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) scholarship awards.

Six of the beneficiaries are from the Department of Computer Science, five from the department of Mechanical Engineering, three from the Department of Chemical Engineering and one from the Department of Chemistry.

The beneficiaries were among the over 500 short listed candidates who sat for the scholarship examination conducted by the Fund on July 7, 2012 at the Geology Auditorium, University of Ilorin.

The six awardees from the Computer Science Department are: Afolabi Ganiyat Kemi, Adesiji Boluwatife Aderinsola, Makan Peter Oseanemo, Yusuf Mubarak Opeyemi, Abdulrauf Gidado Aremu and Adebayo Michael Omolayole.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, Prof. J. S. Sadiku, has expressed his delight over the achievements of six Computer Science students of the Faculty in winning the scholarship awards.

Prof. Sadiku said the scholars did a great job in sending positive signals to the world that the University of Ilorin is truly the best.

On his part, the Acting Head of Computer Science, Dr. R. G. Jimoh, while congratulating the scholars, said he was happy that the feat was made when he was the scholars’ academic level adviser. He said the students had proved their academic potentials by exhibiting much discipline in their studies and examinations.

Dr. Jimoh said, “I believe the best way of accessing a Department is the quality of its products. Permit me to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor of our citadel of learning, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, on this achievement, which is a further confirmation of our better-by-far status.”

One of the awardees, Afolabi Ganiyat Kemi, who is also a University Scholar, thanked the Head of Department, the Dean and the University for providing an enabling environment whereby she and her co-beneficiaries can soar high in their academic endeavours.
