The President, Council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Mr. Segun Aina, has urged pupils to think “big and to plan their lives.”
He spoke during the 13th Speech and Prize Giving Day of Olashore International School, Iloko-Ijesa, Osun State.
In a speech entitled “Your Future is in your Hands”, the CIBN boss called on young people to take charge of their future by having big goals.
According to him, if they do not design their life plan, chances are they would fall into other peoples’ plan.
He added, “Society today celebrates mediocrity so much that it does not take too much effort to set you above the rest. Doing that one thing with just a little passion will put you way above the rest; hence you must make a decision to be different.
“Being different means not being afraid to challenge the norm; being willing to take a chance; making your own track and not just following the great trodden path.”
He also appealed to them to have focus in life and be hard working.
The principal of the school, Mr. Derek Smith, said, “This year is significant in the life of the school. In 1993/94, it opened its gates to the first set of Year 7 students and here we stand 20 years later, celebrating 20 years of academic excellence, 20 years of creating leaders, and 20 years of developing education in Nigeria.
“We have developed a clear mission statement stating who we are as a school and what we aim to achieve. We are a school with a clear mission.
Olashore International School is a learning community committed to academic excellence, nurturing each child to their full potential in a safe and serene environment, developing leaders for the dynamic global society in the 21st century.”
