Yobe State University (YSU) Cut Off Mark and Guide For 2019/2020 Admission Exercise (Updated)

Latest Update: The Central Admissions Committee at its third meeting held on 19th August, 2019 has approved the cut-off points for the nine (9) new programmes. The list of the approved programme and the cut-off marks are indicated here. Interested candidates who wish to apply for the prigrammes can proceedto do so if they meet the requirements.

The Central Admissions Committee of Yobe State University (YSU), Damaturu, has released the cut-off mark and the following information as a guide to both parents and their wards/prospective candidates applying for admission in to the University in the 2019/2020 academic session. 

Before an applicant can be considered for admission in to YSU, he/she:

A- Must have registered for the UTME and chose YSU as his/her first choice;

B- Must have passed the UTME, by acquiring the minimum JAMB and/or the institutional cut-off marks or higher for the programmes applied; The followings are the prescribed cut-off marks for the respective programmes approved by the University Management in consultation with JAMB:

SHARIA ANY THREE (3) ARTS OR SOCIAL SCIENCE SUBJECTS INCLUDING ARABIC OR ISLAMIC STUDIES. FIVE (5) O’LEVEL CREDIT PASSES IN ARTS OR SOCIAL SCIENCES TO INCLUDE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICS AND ISLAMIC STUDIES OR ARABIC.

NOTE THAT: Admission into universities is strictly regulated by JAMB, via the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). Therefore, even if a candidate has acquired the requisite cut-off marks, the University management would be constrained to admit the applicant, where the UTME subject combinations do not match his/her programme of choice, as the admission cannot, eventually, be approved by JAMB.

D- Direct entry applicant must have gotten the minimum ‘A’ Level qualification/grade relevant to his/her chosen programme;

E- Must have a minimum of five (5) relevant passes at credit level, including English and Mathematics in the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE), the National Examination Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB), and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) in not more than two (2) sittings;

F- Must have attended the University’s Post-UTME screening exercise within the prescribed deadline; and

G- Must have uploaded his/her ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level result(s), as the case may be, on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) platform, at least,prior to the PostUTME screening

DISCLAIMER:Notwithstanding meeting the above requirements, the University, guided by its internal policy for screening and ascertaining the merit of all applications, reserves the right to admit candidates into the institution based on the availability of admission spacesin the programme of candidates’ choices, as well as admissions quota assigned on the basis of states and local governments of origin.
