As part of efforts to secure the lives of the students, Yobe State Government has announced the closure of all boarding secondary schools in the state.
Addressing Newsmen in his office on Monday, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss said that the step was taken as a proactive measure aimed at safeguarding the lives of the entire students.
He revealed that the state Governor Mai Mala Buni is currently discussing with other relevant stakeholders on the ways of proffering a lasting solution.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has ordered for the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools in the state, students of Junior Secondary one to Senior Secondary two are to vacate home immediately. The closure of the boarding schools is informed by the security concerns and the urgent need for the Government to be proactive in safeguarding the lives of our children”.
He further disclosed that all-day schools are to continue with their normal school activities. “Further statement will be made concerning the reopening of the schools as soon as possible”.
