But at 2: 23pm that day, as the results of the competition that decided the winner of the N2m worth Bola Ige scholarship for students of public primary school was announced, she burst into tears. Her daughter had made it. Friday Titi of Command Primary School, Odogbo was declared female winner of the 2014 maiden edition of the Bola Ige scholarship award. Then there was Master Ganiyu Folajuwon Bausit.- from Community Primary School IV, Ayekale who also won another N2m.
Both students will graduate from their public schools to attend the highbrow Vale College, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State for their six years secondary school education. The scholarship covers tuition, uniforms, accommodation, textbooks and feeding. The good thing about the scholarship is that it automatically lifts the children from their lowly status to mingle and learn with the silver kids who attend the school from all over the country and beyond.
Also, going away from the venue of the event with scholarships worth N1m each were the duo of Master dewale Boluwatife – from Oladipo Alayande School of Science and Miss Tijani Adetomiwa also from the same school. Both senior secondary students will be privileged to study and write the Cambridge A-Levels examinations at the Vale Tutorial College (TVC) with all expenses covering tuition, accommodation, feeding, textbooks and cost of examination forms written off by the sponsor of the awards, this time in the memory of late Justice Atinuke Ige, a retired Justice of the Appeal Court and wife of the Former Attorney General of Nigeria, Chief Bola Ige in whose memory the primary school version is endowed.
