Academic Staff Union of Universities is on strike because government did not keep the promise it made in 2009. Academic Staff Union Polytechnics suspended its strike for one month to enable government keep its promise.
ASUP will resume strike soon because government will not keep its promise. Government does not keep its promise because the children of people in government are in schools overseas or private institutions.
It will be interesting to read in the media the schools attended by the children of the President, governors, legislators, ministers, Senior Military Officers, Director Generals, Executive Secretaries, etc. The government officials are not committed because they are not affected. Simple.
