We are going to explore new areas, including partnering with more foreign universities, developing our academic programmes. “We are going to enhance the University’s Centre for Research and Bio-Computing to enable it to deliver better output. We are going to improve on our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as the University is presently working on new ways of doing this. We will sustain the staff and student discipline.
Our academic calendar will now run from September to July.” Reliving his experience since assuming office, Professor Ajibefun said, “The past one year has been good. I came with the mind-set to build on my predecessor’s achievements. Although finance is a serious challenge at all levels of governance, God has been so helpful and faithful. Having been here for the past one year, the University has experienced stability, peace and progress even when other institutions around are struggling to achieve same.“Our University has been quite peaceful; the students are disciplined and responsible. Staff members are committed and are regularly paid.
The University conducted a highly successful Post-UTME and released results barely three hours after, held an electronically conducted and hitch-free student union election – first in any state university – and we had a very great Convocation outing.” The Vice Chancellor also spoke on the Memorandum of Understanding already signed with Alabama State University, USA, and plans to do same with Troy and Auburn Universities also in the United States of America as a way of giving new opportunities and privileges to the staff and students of the University.
