We are being owed four months salaries, ASUU AAU cries out

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Chapter, Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma has lamented to the Edo State Government that staff of the university are being owed salaries for four months.

While calling on the state government's intervention, Chairperson of ASUU in the institution, Dr Monday Igbafen disclosed that members are suffering as a result of non-payment of their salaries.

In a statement issued in Benin, he said, “We call on the Edo State Government to urgently intervene in the crisis of payment of staff salaries in the university. This is in order to avoid the continuation of the ongoing nationwide strike in the university after the eventual resolution of the strike at the national level”.

Dr Igbafen advised that the salary crisis in the university should be sorted out during this period of ASUU nationwide strike so that students can resume when the strike is called off.

Reacting to this, the Edo state government through the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie, denied owing anyone salaries and emoluments, maintaining that the state government was up to date with its obligations to all cadres of workers and public officers.
