Water Scarcity Hits Madonna University Elele for a Week?

Hello great Nigerian students,

This morning we want to take you to and acquaint you with the plight of your fellow students in one of the church-owned universities in the country.

Water Scarcity Hits Madonna University Elele for a Week

There has been an out cry of students of the Madonna university, Elele campus for water scarcity for about one week now, and unfortunately, nothing has been done by the school management to arresting the situation.

Reporting to a news website, anonymous Madonna student wrote as thus "It's turning into the seventh day we lacked water in our school, no water to use for bath, wash or even cook. We all depend on pure water to do almost everything, and the sad part is, we have to buy it at relatively high cost."

In rage of expression on behalf of other students who probably cannot do much due to fear of expulsion, he continued again;
This place is like a well-guarded prison we are limited and confined to take whatever decision the management take. We are not allowed to leave the school, to communicate with our friends in other schools (via the internet), not even to use a good mobile phone. We only use Nokia Torch light phone and the likes, we are dying".

...Imagine a school that pay quiet over N340,000.00 school fee, but yet could not provide us with the necessary amenities when we need them. Think about lacking water in rainy season and compare it with what happens in other areas of our welfare. many of us go to the examination halls without taking our bath...yet no one is talking.

The question is; is it supposed to be so?
This is not the first time we are seeing things like this from Madonna, but in this case we sincerely think it's high time we assisted our Nigerian students in Madonna. A least let people know what they are passing through.

Information we obtained before in what the poster tagged "Is Madonna University Truly A Hell?", revealed that students face a lot of embarrassments in slightest guilt to any offense (even ones that are ordinarily pardonable). Security men handle students like jail in-mates and security men will always tell the students that they are doing what the management instructed them to do. What is wrong?

The University is supposed to be for matured mind, where students can go and get developed into a full-grown youth. In Madonna, (and some other church-owned universities) the reverse is the case, these set of students in schools like Madonna move into the society after graduation with no experience of what life is all about, they move in fear and are never free to self expression. This is a rape to socialization!

"It is only in Madonna that students pay fine in excess of N5,000 simply for being late to church activities, and for minor offense in the hostels or face a panel for expulsion". A another student wrote in Nairaland forum.

A lot of students in this same institution has been expelled even in their final year simply because they were seen moving side-by-side with a student of opposite sex even in the day time. What about those who were sent home or suspended simply because they were caught using camera phones like Blackberry and the rest?

The Nigerian University Commission should step in to assure Nigerian students that they are still in the policies guiding other schools in the country. Their welfare and state of social living should be put into serious consideration.

It is a high time the Nigerian students learn to condemn what is bad, and have some measure of choice in the options they take in midst of admission saga in this country.

We urge the management of the school to look into matters affecting the students, and take their welfare seriously. After all, they are paying well for it, and should be given the best.
