WAEC elects new chairman

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has elected a Ghanaian professor, Ato Essuman, as its 20th chairman.

The election took place during the virtual 69th meeting of the Council held from March 22 - 26.

A statement by the Head of Public Affairs, WAEC, Mr. Abiodun Adukoju, stated that Essuman takes over from Mr. Baboucarr Bouy from the Gambia for three years.

The top three performers out of the 2,122,844 candidates in the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) West African region were also honoured.

The honourees, all from Ghana, included- Master Cecil Tetteh Kumah (first); Master Godfred Aseda Obeng (second); and Miss Afua Manukure Ansah.
