The Akwa Ibom state government has revealed that one of the candidates for the 2020 WASSCE has contracted corona virus in the state. The state Governor Emmanuel Udom, made the announcement on Monday August 24, during a media chat in Uyo, the state capital.
The student was confirmed to have contracted the virus after over 100 students were tested for the virus. Although the identity of the student was not revealed, it was however gathered that, the affected student is male and asymptomatic. The student will be allowed to continue with the exams.
The governor also disclosed that, he has directed his Special Assistants to go to all schools in the state, and monitor the level of compliance with the laid down COVID-19 safety guidelines and report any case of emergency.
