The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that it has stopped the manual confirmation or stamping of certificates of candidates who sat the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination from 1999 till date.
In a statement, the council disclosed that this is due to the recently innovated WAEC Digital Certificate Platform. The WAEC Digital Certificate Platform will allow candidates to access, download, and share their original WAEC certificates. Institutions and organisations can also confirm the certificates of candidates.
The WAEC Digital Certificate Platform could be accessed online through the WAEC website and the mobile version could be downloaded on the Android and IOS app stores.
According to the statement, efforts are also being made to accommodate candidates from 1980.
“Note that certificates accessed and shared through the platform are authentic and sourced directly from the WAEC database.
“We kindly request that institutions, organisations, agencies, embassies, high commissions, etc, provide email addresses for the digital sharing, receiving, and verification of certificates. Furthermore, all concerned should please update their portals to accommodate the sharing of the WAEC certificate,” the statement added
