Students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, trooped out in their numbers to protest against the decision of the school management to increase school fees by 100 percent.
The students were seen with leaves in their hands in the demonstration march which is currently taking place today, December 2.
This comes after the school issued a memo on Thursday, Dec 1, stating the various categories of fees to be paid by students.
In the memo, new students across all faculties are to pay a consolidated fee of N114,650 – N120,650 against the former fee of N83,000, while returning students are expected to pay between N85,000 – N95,000 against N40,000.
Angered by the increment, the students have called on the school management for a reduction saying even if an increment becomes necessary, a 100% increment was too much.
