UNN: Graduates 7,900 and 44 First-class Students

The University of Nigeria Nsukka will graduate 44 first class honors certificates at the 43rd Convocation Ceremony coming up on Friday and Saturday this week.

This was made known to the public by the schools VC Professor Bartholomew Okolo while addressing newsmen as part of the of activities marking the 43rd Convocation Ceremony.

Okolo disclosed that a total of 7,989 Degrees and Diplomas of the university would be awarded during the ceremony, adding that 5,121 would receive first Degrees/Diplomas while 2,868 would bag Higher Degrees of the university.

He averred that 338 graduating students would be awarded Doctorate Degrees while 2,015 persons would receive Master’s Degree certificates.

Okolo announced that the university resolved to confer honorary doctorate degrees on Mrs Folorunsho Alakija (Doctor of Business Administration), Mr Samuel Maduka Onyishi (Doctor of Business Administration), former Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu (Posthumous Doctor of Law) and Chief Innocent Chukwuma (Doctor of Business Administration).

The UNN vice-chancellor stated that a convocation lecture that would be delivered by Most Reverend Mathew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese would take place on Thursday, March 27.

Okolo added that the topic of the lecture “After the Insurgency: Some Thoughts on National Cohesion” is certainly of interest to all Nigerians at this point in time.
