It was learnt that the undergraduate students of the University of Nigeria Nsukka on Saturday night engaged their Post-graduate counterparts in a squabble which almost degenerated to a free-for –all-fight.
The whole drama started when some undergraduate male hostel occupants started protesting to register their grievances over the fact that they have not had electric power supply in their hostels for over a week.
They were seen chanting songs and moving around the school demanding that all the generating sets in the school be put off.
However, when they got to the postgraduate male hostel to do the same the postgraduate students attacked them.
This infuriated the undergraduates who started destroying everything on sight around the PG male hostel, cars parked outside the postgraduate male hostels had their windscreens shattered, and stones were seen flying in the air as both engaged one another.
The scenario continued till in the morning as the male undergraduates barricaded the entrance of the PG male hostel to stop anyone from coming out; as far as they were concerned all PG male students should remain under hostel arrest.
It finally took the intervention of the Police and Military personnel to bring the situation under control.
