Barely a few weeks after the suspension of the industrial action embarked on by the academic staff union of universities, (ASUU), new reports suggest that universities workers are set to hit the street in yet another protest.
According to reports, workers under the aegies of the joint action committee (JAC), of the ASUU, NASU and SSANU, are to start a three day national protest on Tuesday, 12 January against the government's nonchalant attitude in handling the IPPIS issue.
The decision to embark on the protest was reached at a meeting held in Abuja on Friday night by the leadership of the unions.
The workers will be protesting against the inconsistencies in the IPPIS platform, non-payment of earned allowance and arrears of new minimum wage, and delay in the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement.
The Union will reportedly embark on another strike after the protest.
