We have received a report that the Minister of State for Education, Professor Anthony Onwuka, yesterday stated that the Federal Government, is working on implementing a new policy that will ensure that students who come up with a Cumulative Grade Point Average, CGPA as low as 0.5 at the end any session will be expelled from their various universities.
He made this know during the 31st Convocation Ceremony of the University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT.

According to him, students with as low as 0.5 CGPA have no reason being in the university and as such, should no longer be accommodated as the universities mist continue to accommodate only students who are serious about what they have come to do in school.
He further stated that this policy will take effect as from the end of the 2016/2017 academic session.
He equally cautioned the governing councils and managements of universities against the incessant power tussle that usually throw many universities into crisis and further assured that the current administration is committed to the 2009 agreement entered into with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
