The University of Ilorin on Tuesday said it had expelled three undergraduate students for internet fraud and theft.
The institution also reprimanded 40 other students of the institution for violating the university’s dress code.
It said Adeyemi Daniel Oluwaseyi of the Basic Medical Sciences was found guilty of unlawfully taking possession of ATM card and PIN belonging to another student while Mkperedom Olalekan Okon of the Arts Faculty was found guilty of internet-related fraud.
The report also said that the 40 undergraduates, who were found guilty of violating the institution’s dress code, received strong warning and were asked to write an undertaking to be of good behaviour.
The students were directed to report to the Students’ Affairs Unit at 8:00 a.m. every Wednesday.
The dress code was one of the university’s measures to instil morals in students and staff.
According to a report in the university’s bulletin issued on Tuesday, four other students dragged before the institution’s Students Disciplinary Committee for theft were exonerated.
It said two students, Fajimite Oluwafemi Ayomide and Ajayi Dorcas Oyiza of the Faculty of Communication and Information Science, accused of examination malpractice, were also discharged and acquitted.
