The carrying capacity of Nigerian university has increased from 600,000 to 1 million over a period of three years.
The Supervising Minister of Education, Barr. Nyesom Wike, made this known yesterday, while presenting Education sector transformation under president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan administration to the public in Abuja.
According to Wike, “The carrying capacity of Nigerian universities that stood at 600,000 was increased to 1 million over a period of three years, through establishment of 14 new federal universities, up grading of Nigeri Police Academy, Wudil to a degree awarding status, establishment of the National Maritime University Okerenkoko and increased in the number of federal university from 28 – 41.
“And the enrolment in Polytecnics and Monotecnics increased from 338, 040 in 2010 to 376,710 in 2013”
