UNIPORT Admission into PGD in The CCDCD for 2015/2016 Academic Session

The Centre for Children with Developmental and Communication Disorder (CCDCD) with the approval of the Authorities of the University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT), Choba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Centre’s first batch Post-Graduate Diploma in Communication Disorders and Childhood Disabilities in the 2015/2016 academic Session.

Admission Requirements
Admission into the program is opened to first degree holders in the Faculties of Humanities, Education, Social Sciences, Health Sciences and other related disciplines with a minimum of Second Class Lower Degree (CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale and 2.40 on a 4-point scale).

Mode of Study and Program Duration
The program will run with the University School of Graduate Studies’ Curriculum for 2015/2016 Session.
It is a full-time program for 12 calendar months (no disruption by strike actions).

During the period, the students shall be exposed to practical Case History with children on disabilities and communication disorder as will be directed as field work.

Program Objective
This program is aimed at availing graduates the opportunities to develop a strong interdisciplinary foundation in social, legal and political concept of disability and communication disorders.

It is also a vital tool in providing services in learning opportunities for agencies, service providers, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations.

The program is aimed at maximizing the potential abilities in special education and to build up the manpower capacity in training personnel with basic academic requirements in Education in Nigeria.

Method of Obtaining Application Form

Application Forms can be obtained from the Centre’s office (International Students’ Building, Abuja Park, University of Port Harcourt) on submission of a bank draft for non-refundable application fee of N20,000 (Twenty thousand Naira) only, payable to the Centre for Children with Developmental and Communication Disorder (CCDCD).

Payment can also be made directly into the Centre’s Account (5210031375), Fidelity Bank Nigeria Plc, Uniport Branch or Uniport Microfinance Bank, Uniport Branch Account Number (0152831058), University of Port Harcourt, Choba, Rivers State.

Sales of Application Form starts on Monday, July 13, 2015 and closing date for submission of duly completed Application Forms is on Monday, October 30,2015.

Aptitude Test and Interview will hold on 9th November, 2015.

Award of Degree
Successful students at the end of the program shall receive a Post-Graduate Diploma Degree in Communication Disorders and Childhood Disabilities, awarded by the Senate of the University.
