We Will Produce a Nobel Laureate Very Soon – UNIOSUN VC:
Vice-Chancellor, Osun State University, Prof. Bashiru Okesina
The Vice-Chancellor of the Osun State University, Prof. Bashiru Okesina, had said the school is planning to produce a Nobel Laureate within its first 25 years.
The vice-chancellor said this at the opening of Information and Communication Technology workshop organised by the university and Google to train computer science teachers.
He made this assertion in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Monday.

He said, “Osun State University is committed to training the best for tomorrow; we are committed to providing high quality teaching and learning experiences that will engender the production of entrepreneurial graduates capable of impacting positively on their environment while being globally competitive.
“It is therefore my pleasure to inform Mr. Governor that our desire to produce a Nobel Prize winner within 25 years of existence of this institution is coming to reality.
“A few months ago, a 300-level student in the Department of Information and Computer Technology made us proud. She is Mujidat Akande. She was one of the Google Ambassadors selected from various African universities, after a highly competitive process.”
The vice-chancellor also hailed the distribution of free e-tablet of knowledge to secondary schools pupils in the state.
Okesina also said the initiative would further help in transforming the state.
