UNIOSUN reportedly rejects students below 16 years offered admission

The management of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, has rejected students below the ages of 16 years that were earlier offered admission into the university for the 2020/21 session by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination Board (JAMB).

This was contained in a statement issued by the University’s spokesperson, Mr. Adesoji Ademola in Osogbo on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. According to the statement, the students were rejected due to the Federal Government age policy on university education.

The university, however, gave the affected students the option of deferring their admission until they attain age 16 or be refunded their tuition fee. The university also insisted that it would continue to enforce the non-admission policy for underage students.

The 2020 Brochure for UTME states that candidates must have attained the age of 16 years or would have done so on the first day of October in the year of his/her candidature.

The university further reacted to the rumor on the increment of school fees, saying it has not increased its fees since 2017. The statement also revealed that accommodation has been provided for all the newly admitted students.
