The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo City, Ondo State is the first specialized Nigerian University of
Medical Sciences established in 2014 with the mission to foster excellence in teaching, research and service delivery
in all health science disciplines.
Since its establishment, the University has created a niche for itself in being one of the
few public universities with a stable uninterrupted academic calendar and exceptionally high quality of educational
delivery. The University hereby invites all eligible candidates to apply for admission for the 2020/2021 Academic
Session into the following special academic programmes for both undergraduate and postgraduate disciplines:
1. UNIMED FOUNDATION SCIENCE PROGRAMME (Duration: 9 Months)
This programme will be conducted by the Faculty of Science of the University to prepare students for advanced
level examinations such as Joint University Preliminary Examination Board’s examination.
Eligibility for UNIMED Foundation Science Programme
The programme is specifically for the following candidates with:
a. Five (5) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language,
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in SSCE/NECO.
b. Ordinary National Diploma/National Certificate of Education.
2. ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES (Duration: One Year)
This programme is for candidates wishing to gain admission into 300 Level of relevant Professional Degree
Programmes of the University.
This programme is for the following Courses:
i. Environmental Health Science
ii. Medical Laboratory Science
iii. Occupational Therapy
iv. Science Laboratory Technology
Eligibility for Advanced Professional Certificate Programmes
Candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in the following subjects:
English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in SSCE/NECO.
The programme is specifically for the following:
a. Candidates with Ordinary National Diploma in relevant disciplines.
b. Candidates with Professional Certificates (Community, Environmental/Laboratory Assistants, CHEWs
and Technicians etc.) in relevant fields.
c. Candidates with relevant Professional certificates (Technologists).
d. Candidates with Higher National Diploma in relevant disciplines.
3. B.Sc. CONVERSION PROGRAMMES (Duration: 6 Semesters)
The B.Sc. Conversion Programmes are to enable graduates gain admission into Degree Programmes of the
University to improve their opportunities for employment and professional advancement.
This programme will be in the following Courses:
i. Community Health Science
ii. Environmental Health Science
iii. Health Information Management System
iv. Biological Sciences (Microbiology, Animal & Environmental Biology, Plant Biology and Biotechnology)
v. Chemistry
vi. Physics
vii. Computer Science
Eligibility for B.Sc. Conversion Programme
Candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in the following subjects:
English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in SSCE/NECO.
a. Holders of Higher National Diploma in relevant discipline or
b. Holders of relevant professional certificates that are recognized as HND equivalent
In addition, the candidate MUST have NYSC Discharge Certificate or NYSC Exemption Certificate
4. (A) POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES (Duration: One Year)
i. Public Health
ii. Parasitology and Pathobiology
iii. Genetics and Forensic Biology
iv. Environmental Health, Safety and Management
v. Medical Laboratory Sciences
vi. Environmental Biotechnology
vii. Data Sciences and Health Informatics
viii. Biochemistry

xi. Plant Biotechnology

xiii. Health Statistics
Eligibility for Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
a. Holders of B.Sc. degrees of the University of Medical Sciences or any other University recognized by
Senate.
b. Holders of Higher National Diploma in relevant disciplines.
c. Holders of relevant professional certificate that are recognized as HND equivalent
(B) PROFESSIONAL POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (Duration: One Year)
Industrial and Environmental Management (with options in Environmental Pollution Control and
Management, Food and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Industrial and Environmental Health Safety,
Petroleum Geosciences and Environmental Conservation).NOTE: There will be provision for both physical and virtual/online learning.
Eligibility for Professional Postgraduate Diploma Programme
a. Holders of B.Sc. degrees of the University of Medical Sciences or any other University recognized
by Senate.
b. Holders of Higher National Diploma in Environmental Health together with work experience in the
field.
c. Holders of other relevant qualification and/or substantial work experience in the field of
Environmental Impact Assessment or Pollution Control will also be considered.
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Discharge/Exemption Certificate are required for Postgraduate Diploma
programmes. Such candidates must also advise their institutions to forward copies of their academic transcripts to the Registrar, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo City, Nigeria not later than 3 weeks after this advertisement.

Eligible candidates should log on to University website www.unimed.edu.ng. Then, take the following steps:
i. Click on Admission;
ii. Click on Programme of Choice;
iii. Click on PAYMENT to make payment via the online payment system using VISA or MASTER Card. Note that VERVE
Card is not allowed;
iv. After payment, Print Payment Receipt
v. Click on APPLICATION FORM with your Payment Transaction ID to complete the form.
