Our attention has been drawn to a recent, misleading and threatening tweet on a Take Twitter handle purportedly written and posted by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aliyu Shugaba.
The tweet, which comes at a time that our dear students are vigorously preparing to resume their studies, after a long stay at home, has the following mischievous words: "Dear Unimaid Students, if you like don't resume on time and finish your exams!! Your CGPA will shock you",
Ordinarily, we would have dismissed such words as part of the familiar social media trash, but are compelled to respond to them, in view of their overall potential demoralizing and damaging effects on the cordial relationship between the Vice-Chancellor, our dear students and their parents.
We wish to clarify that although the Vice-Chancellor is very conversant with the social media, the Twitter account and the entire tweet attributed to him are fake, the usual handiwork of mischief-makers who do not wish our students well. As students and their parents are preparing for the eventual re-opening of our university, we urge them to discountenance the misleading and mischievous tweet.
The Vice-Chancellor advises all students to stay safe, as Management is making necessary arrangements to ensure a hitch-free resumption of studies at the earliest opportunity, in line with the directives of the Federal Government.
