UNIMAID security alert to all students

As the number of students within the school is reducing due to completion of exams by most students, some unknown persons (young men between the ages of 17 to 28) are using this as a window to terrorize students staying on campus within the hours of 11:30pm to 4:00AM. Such attacks include physical assault and the snatching of valuable items (mostly mobile cell phones and power banks). There has also been sexual harassment and even attempted rape (female students mostly the victims). The committee on security and students' rights is working tirelessly to seeing that there are security patrol teams going around the school within those hours, and also wishes to advise students as follows:

1. Students should avoid going around alone or reading alone in classes and under streetlights within those hours (students should ensure they walk/study in groups or pairs).

II. Students are encouraged to carry whistles along with them, blow it as a distress signal/call or shout for help at the slightest perception of danger and take-off immediately. This will enable security teams on patrol to use the sound and locate you easily.

III. To easily identify yourself as student, say/shout "peace!" or "friend!" to anyone who perceives you to be an enemy when you're not and is trying to give a distress signal/call for your arrest. You are also advised to carry I.d. cards along with you when outside of your hostel. FALSE ALARMS OR DISTRESS CALLS WILL NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY OR TOLERATED!

IV. We urge students to please respond in good number whenever you hear a distress signal (sound of whistle or shout for help) close to you. You may possibly save a fellow student who is in need of help if you respond in good time.

V. If you were attacked or harassed in anyway, please report to the committee (via whatsApp or call).

Please, ensure you forward this message.

Thank you.
