The leadership of the University of Ilorin Students' Union has assured fresh students of the University that the much-awaited PC Tablets are now ready for distribution. The commissioning of the ipad distribution will commence on Thursday, 16th May at the university auditorium.
This assurance was given last Friday (May 9, 2014) in a statement jointly signed by the Students' Union President and Senate President, Lawal Ahmed Abiodun and Alawaye Mumeen Kabir, respectively.
The statement made available to Unilorin Bulletin dismissed insinuations that the University management had shelved the idea of distributing the PC Tablets.
Instead, the Students' Union leadership disclosed that the PC Tablets, to be distributed this week, are coming with additional package called “Starter-Pack”.
According to the statement, the Starter-Pack now includes PC-Tablets, branded shirt, 8-in-1 notebook, branded biro, and wrist band and folder bag.
The statement read in part, “At the beginning of this academic session, the Students' Union and the University management agreed on some terms as regards improving the IT skills of the students and staff of the University. In so doing, the University is set to go E. Going fully into the electronic world brings the need for PC Tablet for Students.
“There were insinuations all around that the University will not give out the Starter-pack (PC-TABLET) this session but let us assure you now that your PC-Tablets are ready for distribution but with a better package now called Starter-Pack. The Starter-Pack now includes: PC-Tablets, shirt, 8-in-1 notebook, biro, and wrist band and folder bag. Details of this and additional information on the procedure for activating the Starter-Pack are available on the University website (www.unilorin.edu.ng).”
In another development, the Students' Union leadership has also announced that arrangements are on top gear for “a better by far electioneering process” towards electing new leaders for the Union. Towards this end, the Union's electoral committee has been renamed “Electoral Commission” and voters' registration has started in earnest.
Students have therefore been advised to visit the University website and register online so as to be eligible to vote in the forthcoming Union election.
