UNILORIN Partners Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) company to Build Engineering Research Centre
The University of Ilorin has secured a partnership agreement with the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) company to build an Engineering Research Centre.
A team of experts from the NLNG was in the University last Thursday (May 22, 2014), to conclude arrangement on the partnership.
The NLNG team leader, who is also the company’s Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Mr. Tony Okonedo, told the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyuAmbali, that the team was in the University to rub minds with the management on how to implement the company’s University support initiative.

Mr. Okonedo thanked the University for the proposals it earlier submitted, adding that the visit would afford his organisation a firsthand knowledge of the University.
The NLNG image maker sought the cooperation of the University in order to speed up the project, saying that the project would be such that the University and the community would find useful.
He commended the University for its stable academic calendar and serene environment. He also thanked the management for the warm reception and assured the Vice-Chancellor that the project is only a beginning of greater projects to come.
Receiving the NLNG team on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (RTI), Prof. Felix Oladele, expressed his gladness that the partnership would be a long lasting relationship.
Prof. Oladele noted that the project would boost the University’s capacity to produce quality graduates and impact the community positively.
Also on the NLNG team were, Mr. Oscar Okonkwo, Head, Projects; Mr. EmekaOhiri, Head, Contracts and Procurements; Mr. Philip Afolami, Corporate Communications Officer; and Engr. E. Namiesimagho, Projects.
