An earlier report hovering around the internet suggested that Unilorin has Acquired about 25,000 Ipads for students of the institution, in view of digitizing the entire institution.
According to the registrar, the iPads were already fully loaded with the students’ courses and each student would get one as they resume in January.
Now, mid April, the students have started lashing back at the management of the institution. According to a student, read his expression below;
"Everybody that knows me and knows i'm a unilorite asks for my ipad whenever i go home. Unilorin did not give us any thing its just useless publicity propaganda.
Incase you didnt know unilorin publicised and advertised the fact that every fresher was gonna get an ipad and we felt the effect of this with over a N40000 increase in our school fees over the last fresher's own.
After matric on Jan 10 we were told the ipads for our faculty was ready but they didnt want to create a panic among others so they couldn't give it out. The next thing we heard was that they wanted to inscribe our matric nos on the devices before distributing and it and it would take two weeks. The two weeks would have been by January 24. We're in the second semester now & we still haven't heard anything about it.
So if u're planning to come to unilorin because they give ipads to freshers, you might want to consider changing institutions or lowering your expectations.
