Following the August 22, 2024 announcement regarding the increment in school charges, the leadership of the Students’ Union had several engagements with the University Administration, purposely for reduction on School Charges and other matters as it affects the Welfarism of our colleagues. We’re therefore pleased to announce the fruitful outcome of our engagement.
As a responsive Union, we acknowledged the reactions of our colleagues upon the release of the school charges breakdown, understanding the financial challenges it poses, especially in the face of current economic realities in the country.
Upon the receipt of our series of meetings with the University Administration, together with relentless effort and contribution from the Student Affairs Unit, we’re pleased to get a 20-30% reduction in the School Charges, with assurances of no hidden charges either at departmental or faculty level, we also secured commitment of the administration on value for money paid with respect to services which includes, but not limited to; provision of uninterrupted WI-FI internet connectivity, adequate water supply as well as security of lives and properties on campus.
We urge our colleagues to take advantage of the newly introduced Federal Government’s Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to support their education, as we appreciate the University management for the open-door policy and your patience, understanding, and support during this challenging time.
We reiterate our relentless commitment to putting your interests first and upholding unity and strength.
