UNILAG visitation panel submits report, pro-chancellor resigns

Following the federal government's constitution of visitation panels to tertiary institutions in the country,  the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has received the university of Lagos (UNILAG) panel findings on behalf of the Federal government.

The University of Lagos panel was set up to look into the crisis between its governing council and the vice-chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe following his dismissal.

Adamu who had warned the panel members against interfering with the activities of UNILAG management during its visit, said the recommendations of the panel would be thoroughly scrutinized with the aim of full implementation.

In another development, the Pro-Chancellor of the institution, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN), has resigned following a supposed disagreement with the government on the visitation panel sent to the university. According to Babalakin, the visitation panel was brought up to exonerate the vice-chancellor and implicate the pro-chancellor. He maintained that the panel could not determine the issues before it.
