UNILAG: Matriculates 3,548 DLI Students

University of Lagos has matriculated 3,548 students of the institution’s Distance Learning Institute (DLI).

The schools Vice Chancellor, Rahamon Bello, while addressing the matriculating students said that out of the 6,360 candidates who applied for the programme for the 2012/2013 session only 3,548 were taken.

“We have remained focused and committed to the philosophy and values of the founding fathers of this university since its inception in 1962/63,” Mr. Bello, said.

“We are also committed to the current societal needs and global relevance.

“The 500-capacity E-Learning Resource Centre and the e-library had been incorporated into the library services of the institute.

“These facilities are specifically designed and constructed to facilitate e-learning processes and procedures.

“Rigorous efforts are also ongoing in writing, editing and reviewing all lecture modules with particular attention to quality of content and mode of delivery.”

Mr. Bello said competent academic staff were being trained to inter-face with the students in a bid to reduce face-to-face interaction.

He said the university was working towards consolidating its gains in Information and Communications Technology through strategic partnership and collaboration at local and international levels.
