Over 9,000 Freshmen were formally admitted into the University of Lagos (UNILAG) today at the Jelili Omotola Multipurpose Halls.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, led other members of Management and Deans of Faculties in a colourful ceremony that marked the translation of the students from Jambites to Great Akokites.

In his address to the students, the Vice-Chancellor charged them to work assiduously at their academics, without neglecting their entrepreneurial and creative abilities. He reeled out the numerous achievements that UNILAG has recorded in recent times, including research grants, to the tune of billions of naira, won by lecturers, international competitions won by students and the recent ranking of the institution as 1st in Nigeria and 8th in Africa. He urged them to do their best to be numbered among UNILAG’s success stories.
The Registrar, Oladejo Azeez, Esq. , was on hand to administer the Matriculation Oath on the students.
