The UNILAG African Cluster Centre invites application from qualified Ph.D students for Scholarship in the academic year 2020/2021.
The scholarship which is Sponsored by the German Research Foundation, and through its collaboration with the University of Bayreuth and three other African partners in the African Multiple Cluster system, the University of Lagos African Cluster Centre seeks to advance the study of Africa and African Diaspora by means of cutting edge original empirical researches as well as theory-buildings.
To this end, the Centre welcome doctoral students who are working closely with their supervisors to produce cutting edge researches that will bring new insights to our cross cutting themes such as: (1) Moralities; (2) Knowledge; (3) Arts and Aesthetics; (4) Mobilities; (5) Affiliations; and (6) Learning.
UNILAG African Cluster Centre Scholarship Description.
The Centre is particularly interested in Ph.D. students who are working within the following areas: African history and African politics; African Traditional Religion; and Herbal Medicine; African Philosophy African Languages and literature, including English and Francophone literature (with special reference to multilingualism, African and African diaspora literature, translation and early African literary works); African Culture and Gender Studies; African Musicology; Arts and Aesthetics; as well as water, environment and climatic change in Africa.

Current doctoral candidates with research projects that explore related themes and particularly those whose supervisors are in the Cluster System are invited to apply for the Ph.D. Scholarship (one year) in the first instance valued at ₦750,000.00 per annum. Ph.D. students under this scholarship are expected to assist the supervisor with some of his/her research work and undertake some limited teaching related duties, where necessary.
UNILAG African Cluster Centre Scholarship Requirements.
Applicants must be registered for a Ph.D. at University of Lagos. For the 2020 intake, preference will be given to those candidates whose Ph.D. research proposals have passed through the pre-APC process and are already doing their fieldwork, or are about to write up their thesis.
