UNIJOS notice on 2nd phase of the condonement of Illegal Admissions

This is to inform all Students of the University of Jos, members of the University community and the public that the University is in receipt of a circular from Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announcing the commencement of the second phase of the condonement of candidates who were admitted into the University without first being processed through the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), although they have JAMB registration numbers. This follows the conclusion of the first phase of the exercise where the condonement of candidates without registration numbers was carried out by the Board. JAMB has therefore directed all affected institutions to immediately disclose the following through the CAPS mail:

  • All candidates who were not properly admitted using the JAMB CAPS from 2017, but who have JAMB registration numbers and whose records are on the University’s system.

  • All candidates who have JAMB registration numbers and fall within the 2017-2020 window for the condonement of Undisclosed Illegal Institutional Admissions but had not been included in the earlier declaration made by the institution.

The deadline for all these disclosures is 30th September, 2024, after which no declaration will be entertained.

JAMB emphasizes that any improper admissions granted within the specified period (pre-2017 as well as from 2017 to 2020) will no longer be recognised or condoned, unless disclosed within this one month window and only Students listed in the declared submissions will be permitted to register with the Board.

Note that these measures are being implemented to address previously abused admission windows as the JAMB CAPS remains the sole authorized platform for admissions.

Accordingly, all Students of the University of Jos who do not have JAMB Admission Letters and whose admission status falls within the above mentioned categories and period, are strongly advised to immediately log on to the JAMB CAPS and upload their details for processing. Similarly, Students whose Courses were changed from the initial Courses they applied for are to formalize their Change of Course by clicking on the ‘ACCEPT’ option on the JAMB CAPS.

Please, note that all affected Students who fail to comply stand the risk of losing their Studentship.
