The Students Union Government of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has described the recent increase in the fee for hostel accomodation in the university by the management as unacceptable. This was contained in a statement released by the president of the union .
The statement reads, "We all have received with vein piercing shock and melancholic dismay the news of the increase in hostel fees on this day, 11th of January, 2022.
This is unacceptable because at a time like this with difficult economic challenges in the country, we'll expect that the school management be considerate in its entirety as regards Students and the hardships we go through
We reject in totality the increase in hostel prices and we demand from the school management that the hostel prices be reversed back to its original price.
Moving on, seeing that we've found ourselves in a very dicey situation presently. The SUG calls on all students to be calm and once again, give us a chance to salvage the situation. Hence we advice that no student should pay this outrageous amount.
We will Approach the school management and discuss our plight, and find a lasting solution to this problem
We would like to reiterate that we are here for you all, we understand and feel your pains. We will not relent untill the price for hostel accommodation is reversed back.
