The Bishop, Diocese of Ife, Anglican Communion, Rev. Oluranti Odubogun, says there is the need to implement a uniform education policy in the country, irrespective of party affiliations.
Odubogun, however, said the proposed education policy in Osun State was a welcome development, provided it did not negate the Federal Government’s blueprint for education.
The cleric said this during the second session of the eighth Synod of the Diocese of Ife, Osun State.
He said, “We heard that Osun State wants to introduce a policy that will make schools in the state more proactive, result-oriented such that they would be, comparable with their counterparts anywhere in the world.
“Suffice to say that we have an education policy and blueprint in this country, the Federal Government has maintained over the years a blueprint for the education sector of the economy. If what the Rauf Aregbesola administration is doing is in line with that education policy, good.
“But if a new initiative, then we are breeding confusion and there is absolutely no reason for it. I believe that one policy in the country followed by every government, whether they are of the same party or not, is what is best for us in the country.”
